Julia Roy Williams
Mulitdisciplinary Artist. Maker.
Educator.
I’m a socially minded creator, designer/maker and educator.
Originally trained in jewellery design, a multidisciplinary approach has shaped my creativity. Driven by an interest in the interaction of people and their environment, my work has expanded to include site specific instillation art, brand identity, interior and product design.
I utilise contemporary craft making alongside CAD manufacturing, laser cutting and 3D printing in my work.
My practice is guided by the core values of materiality, collaboration, process & play. I believe that the quality of our day to day can be enhanced by creativity. I focus on supporting diversity and access for everyone.
I help create welcoming places and experiences with a strong visual identity that have impact & reach. I have extensive experience facilitating events, delivering projects, and running creative studio and retail spaces.
I’m based at Islington Mill where I co-run STUDIO JAYJOO with artists Jamie Lee Wainman and Ella Jones.
Optimistic and future thinking; I’m currently developing innovative recycling solutions for plastic waste. A zero-waste and circular sustainablity is central to my studio practice.
