COLLECT 2022
High end people watching and the ridiculous wealth of London.
I spend most of my time during my visit listening to absolute gems of conversations from the wealthiest people in society.
I always feel like I don’t belong when I visit Collect.
Flip side, I also come away thinking that I’d love to have a gallery someday.
I just love making and materials and hearing and seeing how things are made.
It does makes sometimes make me wonder what’s the bloody point?
I’m always buying to be on the train back to Manchester and feel happy as Larry to be Northern.
I love art for everyone, punk, radical thinking, a DIY culture that allows peoples voices to be heard.
Collect can feel like the biggest private party you don’t even want to be at.
BUT THEN…
Haus of Mars!
Hands down the most exciting room of the whole exhibition.
The variety and joy in all the pieces made me crack the widest smile.
LOOK AT ALL THIS MAGIC.
Work from Textile artist Anna Ray,
Alien 3D print inspiration from Silvia Weidenbach
And the squish soft furniture of Lamberty Kamps
They very much deserved their “outstanding display” Award
