Materialise Design School : Plastic
A collaborative Workshop exploring the creative potential and responsible use of plastic.
James Shaw is a designer and maker whose work frequently considers the resources around us, challenging the notion of waste to create new beautiful objects.
One of his creations is a plastic extrusion gun. This tool melts down and extrudes waste plastic chips into a rope of melted plastic that can be manipulated by hand.
I created a set of custom nozzles for the gun, allowing the plastic to be extruded in smaller dimensions for jewellery making.
Participants were able to work with this plastic rope to create wearable art jewellery and explore the creative possibilities of working with recycled materials.
